I ask the chatGPT every problem of certification from the campus where I teach ( OREO Certification) – and this is the score I got.

Telkom University consistently innovates so that the quality of education and teaching is always superior and gives the best results for each student.

OBE ( Outcome Based Education)

One of the programs being initiated is to certify all lecturers to understand the concept of OBE ( Outcome Based Education ) and apply it so that superior and more basic teaching quality is achieved to competencies that can fulfilled for each student.

One of the spirits that OBE has organized is there is no such thing as a BELL CURVE value, where there is an non-equal distribution of values between A, B, C, D, and E as if this equitable value is the ideal form of teaching with a middle value (C) and semi-middle (B and D) dominating compared to A and E.

OBE strives that all students can achieve the quality of teaching in a reasonable way and understand students’ abilities differently – different in absorbing lessons. In other words, all are expected to get maximum value by breaking down the PLO ( learning outcome program ) and CLO (course learning outcome) from a course.

OREO Certification

For this reason, Telkom University targets lecturers across all faculties to be able to understand and implement OBE through the OBE certification program named OREO (OBE awaReness cErtificatiOn).

This certification is based on Moodle, and to obtain it, we are required to watch a film in material one and two, then work on a problem exercise in the last section. 25 questions must be worked out, and there are certain value limits so that they can be said to pass and obtain certificates.

I am grateful that every material is included with the PowerPoint slide so I can learn the outline of the material without having to watch videos. To meet the target of watching videos, I open all videos in different tabs, fast forward with the speed being 2x, and then mute the volume. That way, the system will detect that I have watched the video.

And we arrived at the most interesting part. Quis type of multiple choice (MC), Multiple Choice Multiple Answer (MCMA) and True / False (T/F). I have 25 questions to do. I am grateful there is no time limit for working on it, but I am curious whether ChatGPT can help me get a certificate quickly. This is an exciting experiment. So without lingering, I asked ChatGPT with the first prompt :

Frankly, this is the first time I asked ChatGPT about an exam. So I’m a bit deg-degan as well as how ChatGPT will answer it.

Then ChatGPT responses are as follows :

At this point, my position is not having watched videos and not read slides. So, I don’t know if this chatGPT answer is true or false.

But I see ChatGPT is quite confident in answering. And indeed, ChatGPT has rarely hesitated so far unless it is outside its capacity as a text-based bot.

Then I ask again about the 2nd, 3rd and so on…

The answer is always convincing and accompanied by clear reasons.

I am increasingly confident that I will get the maximum value and get a certificate.

Until arriving at the 25th problem, the following problem :

The problem is true/false, and I can guess the answer is No. ChatGPT’s answer turned out to be the same as my guess :

So here I choose NO answers.

The results that I got

Next, I press the button finish attempt. In an instant, I can get my grades. Here are my grades :

Here, I get 72 out of 100. A value that I think is “cool …”. Without studying, reading slides or watching videos, I can get a value above 70. It’s better than guessing random, calculating buttons or asking Google…

Although I later checked that my grades were not yet feasible to obtain a certificate, I was pretty satisfied with this result. At least I have additional material in the form of a chatGPT answer as my addition to working on it in the next try.

A review mode does not accompany the certification system at Telkom University, so I don’t know which answers I am wrong and correct. In addition, this certification uses a bank problem of more than 25, so it is likely to come out about a different matter in the subsequent trial.

Insight

The insight that I got from this experiment was :

1. That chatGPT is unreliable in obtaining maximum certification exam results.

2. Even so, the organizer may need to consider proctoring for similar types of certification so that forms of cheating, such as cheating material or asking ChatGPT, can be minimized.

3. Turning off the review mode on an exam becomes one of the good features so that the exam participants want to learn from learning sources (video, slides, books and others ).

4. Multiple Choice, Multiple Choice Multiple Answer, and T/F modes make checking answers from problems easy because the system automates them. But as good as any man-made system, humans can always surpass it.. O God’s mercy.. Alhamdulillah..

From here, I learned, so as not to always rely on ChatGPT’s capabilities entirely. Always include our reason as a quality control of computer answers.

Good luck.

Update :  I got certificate for the 2nd attempt . Some questions are answerable by materials of the slide / video. Some are not.
